Andy Cowley has recently completed his QCF level 3 in Health and Social Care with Omega Training. Every year Omega Training hold an awards ceremony for ‘Learner of the year’ in recognition of the hard work and dedication their students put into completing their course. Students can be nominated by either their assessor or their Manager, and Andy was nominated by his assessor, Donna Soloman. All nominations are then read by Omega’s Board of Directors, who do not know the students, and a short list is then drawn up. This year there were over 200 Students put forward for this award and Andy was shortlisted to the last 16. Donna wrote in her nomination ‘From the start Andy showed an eagerness to complete his work, always completing knowledge for the QCF and review topics, his ability to interact with other staff members, clients, other professionals and family members always shone through as well did his caring nature. Throughout the time of being Andy’s assessor he has shown commitment and a real ability to keep going although things seem to be working against him. I really believe he deserves to be recognised for this’.
The awards ceremony took place 20th November at The Beeches hotel in Bourneville. We were treated to a very nice lunch followed by the ceremony itself. Joanne Malin from Midlands Today was there to present the nominee’s with their scrolls and certificates and present the winner with their trophy. Although Andy didn’t receive the ‘Learner of the Year’ award to be shortlisted to the last 16 in itself was a great achievement. Well done Andy.
